Child Psychologist
Dr Adrienne Eddleston
Dr Adrienne Eddleston is an Educational and Child Psychologist with a wide range of experience working with children and young people with cognition and learning difficulties, social and emotional needs, and mental health issues. Dr Eddleston is committed to finding ways to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people and support them in their journey towards greater wellbeing. She is registered by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Experience
Dr Eddleston has worked for the past twenty-three years within local authority contexts, across a range of primary, high school, further education, and specialist settings. This has involved working with children and young people between the ages of 0-25; liaising with school staff to help to meet the needs of their students; direct work with parents to help resolve their child’s issues at home and school; providing a range of training for teachers, parents and other professionals.
For the past eighteen years, Dr Eddleston has held a dual role, positioned across both educational and clinical sectors. The work she has done, for a variety of child and adolescent mental health services, has equipped her with the skills to assess needs, recommend, and deliver therapeutic approaches aimed at improving the mental health of children and young people.
Dr Eddleston is trained to use a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT); Mindfulness; Narrative Therapy; Solution Focused Brief Therapy; Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). She believes in using a holistic approach and works collaboratively with clients in order to find the best approaches for them.
Within the past few years, Dr Eddleston has also been working in the area of Educational Neuropsychology. Focusing on the rehabilitation of children and young people with an acquired brain injury. This involves working closely with the child/young person, their families, and the wider systems supporting them. In addition, she has also worked as an Associate Psychologist for the National Autistic Society.
