Having a loved one with an eating disorder can often be a stressful experience for parents and carers, particularly if they are having to wait for treatment, and unsure as to how to support their child in the interim. These 4 webinars are designed to talk you through your position as parents and carers; and provide you with helpful resources, allowing you to feel more empowered to promote successful recovery.

While dispersing information, these webinars offer parents and carers the opportunity to ask questions and clarify the positions they need to hold for their loved ones. Should you have any additional questions following the webinars, we welcome you contact us for further clarification or guidance.

The webinars are facilitated by Dr Bev Marais, eating disorder specialist and founder of The Eating Disorder Psychologist. The presenters are Lesley Kollikho and Anita Sommers, and Colette West joins us for two webinars.  Lesley is a specialist psychotherapist, who has been working with young people, adults and families for over ten years. She also teaches on eating disorders for trainee psychotherapists.  Anita is a specialist family psychotherapist, who has extensive experience working systemically with individuals struggling with eating disorders and their families. Colette is a specialist advanced dietitian with experience working with eating disorders in residential, in-patient and outpatient settings.

Webinar 1 : Spotting the signs, initiating conversations, understanding what maintains the eating disorder
