Lesley Kollikho

Lesley Kollikho is an Integrative Psychotherapist and has been working with young people, adults, and families for over ten years, both as a teacher and in a therapeutic capacity. Graduating with a BA in Psychology in 2006 and completing her Early Years teacher status in 2011. Lesley trained for her MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy at The Terapia Psychotherapeutic Centre; she is also a registered member of United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Lesley has completed all three parts of EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) training and is working towards accreditation. She has found EMDR useful in the treatment of many psychological conditions where trauma is an underlying cause. Lesley has also completed a certificate in Psychopathology which provided her with a deepened understanding of the clinical manifestations of certain psychopathologies including psychosis, depression, self-harm, personality disorders and OCD.
Lesley practices using an integrative approach, incorporating psychodynamic theories of attachment and exploring what is in one’s unconscious, with person-centred values of empathy and acceptance. She views the therapeutic relationship as the most important factor that will enable a person to heal and change. Lesley facilities this change using a combination of exploration, reflection and creative interventions, based upon the individual needs of the client.
Lesley has a special interest in working with individuals with eating disorders and has worked in a specialist eating disorder inpatient unit for the last four years. Lesley’s approach to working with eating disorders is to first establish a safe and trusting therapeutic alliance where the client feels able to look at the underlying causes of the eating disorder and what keeps it as a viable method of coping.
Lesley also teaches an ‘Understanding and working with eating disorders’ unit to trainee psychotherapists at Terapia.
Lesley has worked with individuals with a range of emotional, educational and physical challenges and has a passion for helping people achieve the best possible outcomes in life.
